Despite a cold New Zealand winter's night, 100 avid art lovers gathered to celebrate the launch of, "It's all in the Mind" at the Welcome Swallow Gallery. CEO and Trust Chair, Dorothy Gilson noted that this was the first exhibition since the lock-down and that it was gratifying to see so many people attending. She pointed out that successful exhibitions raise funds that enable women's refuges in the Waikato to fund children's play therapy programs.
Artists, Toni Kingstone, Marise Rarere, and Kate Wilson, were represented by Kirsty Black and Hannah Goodwin who gave fascinating insights as to how they created their compositions.
Sandra Barlow thanked the NAR Foundation for their sponsorship of the event and in particular the now well established Volunteers' Choice Award. The winner was Hannah Goodwin's painting, A Deep Breath. The Award included a cheque for $250 from the event sponsor. Throughout the evening many commented on how the curation was well constructed, creating a soft yet vibrant atmosphere.
