The Welcome Swallow Gallery and Gifts is expanding into the Hamilton CBD
While the Hamilton East property continues to grow and develop, The Trust Board that runs the business has decided to expand its operations. From 1st August Welcome Swallow in the City will be opening its doors for business in the CBD. More details to follow.
In the meantime, a busy month lies ahead for the Ham East property. In the first days of July there are no less than three exhibition openings being hosted in the Gallery!
- In conjunction with the Sculpture Park at the Waitakaruru Arboretum, the Welcome Swallow Gallery is hosting the winners of the photographic exhibition for 50 shades of Autumn. The winners will have their compositions displayed in the Gallery for the month of July, with an event evening on Monday 4th July from 5.30pm. The competition sponsors are Snapshot and Mitre 10 MEGA.
- Rototuna High School will be displaying chosen art work from their students on Tuesday 5th July, from 5.30pm. These paintings will remain in the Gallery for the whole month. This follows on from the profiling of work by the Hamilton Girls High School and is in keeping with the Gallery commitment to support young artists.
- On Friday the 8th July, from 5.30pm, the Gallery is presenting a special showcase entitled: SPORT AND HOLLYWOOD: THE ART OF PERFORMANCE, by contemporary New Zealand artist Debra Thompson. Sponsored by Montana catering, this event will feature unique artifacts relevant to the subject matter, film clips and music, alongside four portraits of world famous individuals who reflect the title of the Showcase. There will also be a cocktail bar, and canapes.
Most important of all, each and every composition on display is for sale. All our work and initiatives are designed to raise funds for children in the Waikato who face incredibly tough lives.
