Born in Cornwall in 1907, Charles Horwood moved to London after leaving school in1923 to further his art education and establish himself in the UK art market. He exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy. Horwood’s impressionistic style was perfect for depicting the Cornish coastline that here turned to frequently. His paintings often featured low horizons with dramatic, overcast skies and distant figures and buildings. Charles Horwood’s works have been sold worldwide, particuarly at auction in London and Christies in New York. There are well over 100 auction sales of his work which is testament to the ongoing popularity of his work, fifty years after his death in 1975.
