Giovanni Bonazzon sells the Grand Canal, Venezia
Sold from The Grand Tour exhibition is a beautiful watercolour by Giovanni Bonazzon who attended Art School in Venice and then continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he began his artistic career. He received the teachings of some of the great names in Italian contemporary art. In 1974 he qualified summa cum laude and is now professor of drawing and painting.
After a period of technical experimentation, his artistic research centres particularly on the use of watercolours, as he feels this means of expression best suits him. Transparent colour, brightness and atmosphere mark the works of Bonazzon; in other words, the image being transformed into a state of mind. The lagoon, the lovely views of the Grand Canal and the foreshortened pictures of smaller canals are the results of his continuous study of his beloved Venice and reflect the ancient pictorial tradition of one of the most painted cities in the world. Giovanni Bonazzon’s works are to be found both in private and public collections all over the world.
