Resting Man is a Picasso pastiche by gallery artist, Jimmy Chang that echoes Picasso’s early cubist period with compositions such as Seated Nude Man, 1908. In Chang’s composition the deep internal reflexivity remains whereas the cubist structures have been largely softened towards angular lines that predate Tamara de Lempicka’s art deco inspired figures that emerged some twenty years later. Chang’s composition carries inner strength while escaping any attempt to establish coherent figurative meaning. The fascination presented to the viewer is endless. Now sold to a corporate buyer.
