Certainly in terms of subject matter Chris Greenslade’s atmospheric watercolour, Lady in the Fog, Swarbrick Landing retains a strong subject matter pastiche with John Singer Sargent’s 1883 composition, Landscape with Women in the Foreground and also his earlier impressionist-leaning Olive Trees from 1878. Yet the delicacy of Greenslade’s brush work makes this superb composition both immersive and realistic. It has attracted much admiration and attention in the gallery exhibition, Our River and is now sold.
