The Winter Collection 2026: Chaos & Calm
In the Winter Collection of 2026, our 42nd exhibition of original art in the gallery, we explore the twin dialectics of chaos and calm. While the former seems ever present in today’s world and the subject of exponential constant concern, the latter unswervingly emerges in the desire to create order and calm. Inevitably this is also reflected in artistic styles and canonical methods used to portray the world in which we live.
These two concepts, in extremis, underpin the arc of representational art. Once the late nineteenth century impressionists had thrown off the shackles of realism, the explosion of many forms of art were established, giving license to cubism, surrealism, expressionism and abstract work in general. Unsurprisingly then, chaos can be found in several different art genres and they are well represented in this exhibition.
We are also excited to welcome four new artists to the gallery who are presenting in this exhibition. Welcome, Frances van Dammen, Jennifer Edwards, Elbie Nel and Conny Scholten!
