The celebration exhibition launch on 1st May 2019 was a great success! Many of the items in the Catalogue were sold on the night with several more pieces being snapped up in the days after the launch. Since the exhibition features 14 artists and lasts until the end of July, the Trust has decided to do a celebration redux on Friday June 14th. The Volunteers' Choice Award, sponsored by local travel agents Calder & Lawson was handed out at the celebration exhibition launch on 1st May 2019. Seventeen volunteers voted, citing 45 pieces from the exhibition as worthy of the Award. The outright winner was Marilyn Rea-Menzies and her wonderful piece in conte and charcoal, Kauri with Ribbonwood Flowers. Over 200 people attended the celebration Exhibition launch at the Welcome Swallow Gallery that began at 1pm and concluded at 7.30pm. The Welcome Swallow Gallery will be celebrating the 150th year since the birth of New Zealand artist, Frances Hodgkins by featuring one of her important water colour paintings from the 1930s. The piece is entitled The Croft: House in the Countryside that is known to be the Geoffrey Gorer Cottage in Bradford-on-Tone in Somerset, UK where Hodgkins used to stay during this period.
